**GASP**

Look what found it's way into my email today: The newest addition of Stamping Lifestyle on StampTV. You can read more about it as well as find the link to see the issue HERE!

I was so surprised to see this. (And, although Lynn asked me questions months ago for a little feature, I had no idea it when it would be coming out or how big of a feature it would be!)

I am so grateful to have the focus on the Alzheimer's Association as a big part of the article. STAY TUNED for more on THAT soon!!!! (wink!)

Thanks Lynn and Gina. I am truly honored *and blushing*!

Thanks for letting me share!

JustRite Christmas at Stamper's Dream

This week is JustRite week at Stamper's Dream again!! This week, the Dream Team has been showing you tons of projects with the newest JustRite products.

Here's the schedule from this week and links to every one's blogs so you can check them out...
Monday: Tosha , Michelle, Kimberly and Denise
Tuesday: Laurie , Charmaine , Amy, and Michelle
Wednesday: Laurie , Tosha , Kimberly and Michelle
Thursday: Kimberly , Michelle, and Denise
Friday: Amy, Kimberly, Michelle and Me

Today, I am showing you two projects I created with the Old Fashioned Christmas Set.

The first is a little circle box I found at Hobby Lobby and thought it would be fun to alter. The little snowmen from the set look so cute on top.

The sentiment is from A Merry Little Christmas set. I just used a marker to use the part of the sentiment I wanted.
The designer paper is from Cosmo Cricket Be Good.

<-------And here is a little ornament I created with another image from Old Fashioned Christmas. The sentiment is from Holiday Demi Phrases Set and I added the year using the JustRite 15pt font.
I used blue stickles on a few of the hat/scarf stripes and added a bit of white fluff to the end of his hat.
Because it has the date on it---this would make a cute keepsake ornament, just add a picture of your kids/grandkids on the other side.
All images are paper pieced and colored with Copic markers.

Lotsa Flowers-Gina K Preview Day 3

Hi! Today is Day Three of the Gina K Designs Previews!!! Hope you have liked all the previews so far. Here are some more!!!

First up--I created this card with the newest set from Theresa called Autumn Beauty:Wait until you see all the exquisitly drawn images in this set---they are so pretty and perfect for fall. But today...I wanted to create a happy "hi" card featuring the mailbox image.

The main image is colored with Copics and I added a Sakura Stardust pen to add shimmer to the flowers.

Materials used: Stamps-Autumn Beauty (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; alpha stickers; Sakura Stardust pen; Designer paper-Night Light-Jack (October Afternoon); cardstock-white (Gina K Designs), turqoise (Stampin up!); Spellbinders dies; button (SU!); ribbon (SU!); twine (Gina K Designs).

Next, I created this card with the new sentiment set from Nina called Elegant Verses. Nina released the GORGEOUS Elegant Post set last month (while I was on vacation) so I was only too happy to ink them up together. The verses work perfectly with her Post set but also will complement many other stamps you already own.
First, I inked up the post in the Elegant Post set, but instead of stamping it the way it was designed....I rotated the post horizontal so that I could create a long hanging bar for the flower basket.
The flowers are colored with Copics. I added some tiny black crystals for the basket holder and a tiny little gingham bow to complete the panel.
I used the Flowers sentiment from the Elegant Verses set and highlighted a part of it in blue. The verse reads "Flowers seem intended for the solace of ordinary humanity." Love that!
I used Pure Luxury white cardstock and Black onyx pure luxury cardstock on this card.
Materials used: Stamps-Elegant Verses, Elegant Post (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; Copic markers; Cardstock-white, black onyx (Gina K Designs); turquoise (SU!); Copic markers; Martha Stewart lace punch; Crystal Imaginisce rubons & Rhinestones-Always & Forever; Mark Richards crystal stickers.

Back to School: Gina K Preview Day 2

Welcome to day two of the Gina K Previews. Today, I am showing a project I created with the Back to School set designed by Rupa.

Because my two older kids headed back to school yesterday (see below!), I have had "school" on the brain. I thought it would be fun to create a chipboard album full of my son's class pictures from elementary school.

Here is the cover of the book. The books and apple, pencil, row of paper clips, favorite school memories circle are all part of this HUGE set!

I created little tabs on the side to show the different grades. (They are created with JustRite 2" Stamper and 15 pt. font set.)

<------Here is the first page.

I put Ben's kindergarten photo in and then added some more elements from the set---the adorable backpack, the pencil and the A+.
{No---it isn't your eyes: Some of the personal information is blurred out.}

Each page notes the year, his school he attended, his teacher and a few friends. The back side of the page has plenty of room for more details and a sample of his writing.

<------I created SEVERAL pages of the book and left spots for Ben's school pictures. (Since he is just in first grade---we only have his kindergarten picture so far!)

For once in my life----I am planning ahead!

Ben LOVES his book and I know we will have fun adding the photos and details each year.

For more inspiration with the stamps previewed today, visit Gina's blog as well as Melanie Muenchinger, the illustrator of Sports, School, Spirit.
For even more projects with tonight's two stamp sets, these Senior Design Team Members are participating in previews today: Cindy, Donna, Emily, Erika, Jessica, Lee, Lynn, and Theresa as well as our CenterStage Spotlight Design Team members: Tina Gilliland and Vicki Dutcher

Don't forget about our Release Party on SCS starting at 7pm CST on Thursday, August 27th. There will be contests, challenges, lots of chatter as well as a ton more samples shared by the Senior Design team members and our CenterStage Spotlight team too. We'd love to have you join us!

Back to School-NSR (Non Stamping Related)

Cara started 8th grade and Ben started 1st grade yesterday. They both survived! Cara was happy to go back to school. Ben had a few tears at drop off but quickly recovered.

When I picked up Ben from his second day of school (today) we had this conversation---
Me: How was school today?
Ben: It was the best day of first grade I ever had.
Me: (Deep sigh of relief!) That is wonderful! Why was it so great?
Ben: Because I got to play with Jace at recess and at PE and didn't have to play with any of my emergency friends.
Me: What are emergency friends?
Ben: The friends I play with with Jace isn't there.

Sigh! Where to begin!?

Embroidered Leaves - Gina K Preview Day 1

Welcome to Day 1 of the Gina K Designs previews. Today, I am showing you a card I designed using Melanie's new set called Year of Leaves.
This set is filled with beautiful leaves and sentiments that will inspire your cardmaking throughout the year.
Because it is almost September, I went with a more Autumn-y card: I stamped four of the leaves from the set on some shimmer vellum (masking as I went along) and then used embroidery floss to stitch around each leaf, just following the stamped image. Because I stamped on vellum (can see through it), it was easy to follow the stamped lines.

I really wasn't sure how this was going to turn out---or how much time it would take...but I was pleasantly surprised (right Mel?). It really came together quickly and I love the homey end result.

I finished the card by adhering the vellum piece over some Ivory pure luxury cardstock. I matted that on some Chocolate Kiss cardstock and then attached the panel to the new Pumpkin Spice cardstock (which will be released this week too!). The ribbon and twine are both from the Signs of Autumn Stamp TV kit.

Materials used: Stamps-Year of Leaves (Gina K Designs); Memento black ink; vellum; cardstock-Pure Luxury Ivory, Chocolate Kiss, Pumpkin spice (Gina K Designs); ribbon and fibers (Gina K Designs); Embroidery floss; needle.

For more inspiration with the stamps previewed today, visit Gina's blog as well as Melanie Muenchinger, the illustrator of Year of Leaves and Asela Hopkins, the illustrator of Fruitful Harvest.
For even more projects with tonight's two stamp sets, these Senior Design Team Members are participating in previews today: Carolyn, Cindy, Donna, Emily, Erika, Kurtis, Jessica, Lee, Lynn, and Theresa as well as our CenterStage Spotlight Design Team members: Denise Kelemen and Geri Utterback

Our Release Party will be held once again over on SCS starting at 7pm CST on Thursday, August 27th. There will be contests, challenges, lots of chatter as well as a ton more samples shared by the Senior Design team members and our CenterStage Spotlight team too! You won't want to miss it!

Grandma OVER Board

It's Monday and time for another CCEE Challenge. This week is the CNFS (Catchy Name Featured Stamper) where we feature someone who has a catchy user name over on SCS.

This week Cindy chose Grandma Overboard. Here are Cindy's instructions: Your card must have a Grandma Overboard on it. She could have fallen out of a boat, off the stage, out of the tree, off of a flower, into the pool, off your card, into an oval, off of a building, off of a horse, out of a sleigh, out of an airplane, etc. etc. etc. She just has to be overboard!! Cindy also warned us that if we were thinking of cheating and just putting the words Grandma Overboard on our card, then those words have to be falling off/out of something!

No problem!

Grandma

OVER

Board

I decided to put the fun grandma driving stamp from You Know You're Old When (Gina K Designs) over a board. The board is just a piece of cut designer paper that has some wood grain on it. I sponged a bit of Tea Dye (Ranger) ink around the edges of it before adhering it to the card. The sentiment is from Tropical Windows (Gina K Designs).

You can check out all the other interpretations of this challenge HERE!

Fly away Tag

My time on the Splitcoaststampers Dirty Dozen ended in June (shortly before I left for vacation). I am still shocked and honored to have been asked to be on that team. Thank you, Jenn, for the wonderful experience! You rock! Remember to check out the AMAZING DD Gallery this month. (You have to be a fan club member to see it!) The designers all did a fantastic job!

Here is one of the first Dirty Dozen projects I ever created....

Materials-Stamps: Bird-Inkadinkado; Birds in Vines-Flourishes; Weathered bg-SU! ; Paper: Tag (Paper Reflections); cs- white, riding hood red, choc chip ; Ink: Memento tuxedo black; Ranger- Fired Brick, Tea Dye; SU!- banana, more mustard ; Accessories: Flower Soft, Sponge, Copic markers, Embossing powder-black, clear; Versamark, heat tool, May Arts ribbon; hemp, oval punch (SU!), Round tab punch (SU!), Gelly Gems (Gel-a-tins), Jumbo eyelet (SU!), Cropadile (We R Memory Keepers); dimensionals (SU!).

To create this I took a plain white tag (Creative Tags by Paper Reflections) and sponged the entire thing with banana ink (SU!). Then I sponged the outer edges with more mustard ink (SU!). I took my SU! Weathered background and inked it in Ranger Tea Dye ink and stamped over the tag. I used Flourishes, LLC set Bird in Vines for the background flowers. I embossed them in Ranger black embossing powder and then colored the leaves with Copic markers.I used some white Flower Soft on the petals to give them some texture. I stamped the bird on some white cardstock with Memento ink and colored it in with Copic markers. I cut it out, embossed it with clear embossing powder and popped it up on the vine with a dimensional. I stamped the sentiment in Ranger Fired Brick ink. Next, I sponged Ranger Tea Dye ink all over the edges of the tag to create more depth around the edges. The top detail is created by punching the round tab punch (SU!) and layering a red oval punch on top of it and then attaching the jumbo eyelet. I added some Gel-a-tins Gelly gems along the edge of the tab punch. Finally, I added a piece of hemp and some May Arts Ribbon and done!

You can still participate in the Twilight challenge HERE.

Dog Days of Summer

Hello there! I am so confused on the days lately---all I know is that my two oldest go back to school on Monday and we are getting all ready for that.

I created this card for the Dirty Dozen Alumni challenge on Splitcoaststampers.
Valerie came up with this month's theme -- the Dog Days of Summer.
Required Element: Dog images or sentiments and heat of summer color scheme (so think orange, red, mustard, etc.)
Restricted Element: Flock, or any fuzzy type embellishment
You can view all the cards for this challenge HERE.

Here is my card: I used Pat the Dog from Our Craft Lounge for my dog. I made sure to have a big ole sun ('cause it is HOT in Texas during the Dog Days of Summer.)

The base of this card (yellow polkadots) is from a dollar pack of notecards from Michael's. I accented it with some other designer paper with some "summery" colors.

What a fun challenge ----->I am now ready to say goodbye to the Dog Days of Summer. Bring on the Fall!

Materials used: Stamps-Pat the Dog (Our Craft Lounge); Memento black ink; Copic markers; notecard (Michael's); designer paper-Black Orchid (SEI); Big Kids (Making Memories); ribbon-pumpkin pie stripe (SU!), yellow (May Arts); sun sticker (Creative Memories); slit punch (SU!).

REMEMBER: Check out the Totally Twilight Challenge HERE! Come and play along!!

A Totally Twilight Challenge

A TOTALLY Twilight Challenge: Wanna play along?

Just add your Twilight inspired card to this blog post and Judge.Cara will select her favorite. You have until Sunday, August 23 at 8:00 am central time to add your card to this post. Cara will pick her favorite and you will win a STAMP SET of YOUR CHOICE from Gina K Designs.

**********

A few days ago I blogged about how my daughters and I were working on projects together at the kitchen table. My oldest daughter, Cara, was making this Twilight poster: Someone asked that I post it...and that gave us an idea!

Today Cara and I made "Twilight" inspired cards. The cards we made were inspired by one of the four book covers.

Here is what we came up with:

First, here is Cara's card:

She was so secretive while making this---because she didn't want me copying her idea (This is verbatim from her!). I love what she came up with---the little forever tag and bling flowers are so much fun! And I love the overall design. (Can you tell I am so proud of her!?)

Here is my first card (I made two, cause I am fast!)

I was inspired by the same cover Cara used on this one---my checkerboard pattern just morphed a bit. I chose to make a teacher thank you card--taking inspiration from the apple on the first book.

Materials used: Black cardstock (Gina K Designs); Designer paper-Norm's News (October Afternoon), Everafter (Cosmo Cricket); sewing machine; apple-Rebecca Sower (EK Success); buttons (Papertrey); ribbon (Offray); stapler.

Here is my other card:

Removed for Publication

I used Arranged with Love (from Gina K Designs) to create the background. I stamped it once on white cardstock and then another time on black and embossed with white detail powder. I fussycut the black one and layered part over the original.

I layered some cardstock over some sheer red ribbon (taking colors from the covers) and added the friends rub-on. Finally, I added some adhesive rhinestones.

Materials used: Stamps-Arranged with Love (Gina K Designs); cardstock-white, onyx (Gina k Designs), red (SU!); white embossing powder; Versamark; Memento tuxedo black ink; ribbon (unknown); rub on-Make it Personal (One Heart One Mind); Mark Richards Crystals.

Hope you will play along!!!

Biggest Loser!!

Sorry for the extra post today....just found out about this and wanted to post it before I forgot!

Yep, I think I am the only person who blogs about losing contests. (The truth is---I think it is good for readers to know the GOOD and the BAD!)

Remember these:

They are the projects I entered into the Spellbinders Pendant Contest. Well....neither of them placed in the top five (or top eight for that matter as they also listed a few honorable mentions!) Big bummer---I actually thought the crown had a chance.
So.....after the design team rejection and now this----I am pretty much thinking that Spellbinders just does not like my style. lol!
You can check out the beautiful winning projects HERE! Seriously, everyone who entered the contest did a fantastic job!
and.......I STILL love the crown!
Today's lesson in life: Believe in yourself, that is ALL that matters! (Some free dies would have been nice, though!)

A Moon-y CCEE Challenge

Hi Ya'll!!!
Today, it is time for a CCEE Challenge. I am sooo thrilled to be able to (finally!) play with my CCEE buddies again.
This week the challenge was to create a card with a moon on it! (Gosh, I just LOVE when Cindy does the challenges...heehee!)

I was in a halloween-y mood so here is what I came up with: I used two Gina K Designs sets for this card---Happy Haunting and Spooky Silhouettes. I paper pieced the moon from the background paper so that it would be the focus for the card---cause...that is the challenge and I ALWAYS play by the rules! Giggle!

All of the paper from this card is from my scrap bin--woohoo!!! I always forget to look in that thing :)

You can check out all of the other fantabulous CCEE girls cards HERE!!!

****Be sure to stop by tomorrow---my sweet daughter Cara is hosting a challenge on my blog to win a FREE GINA K STAMP set! See you then!

JustRite THANKS

Hello everyone! Thanks again for the prayers----So far....so good! Lauren quickly recovered from her bout with the stomach bug and now Cara and I are just staring at each other to see who will succumb next. Oh...and there is lots of cleaning going on round here! lol!

Despite all that fun.....I did manage to eek out a card yesterday. (I have been itching to get into a great BIG pile of new stamps but the bellies in my family have not been cooperating!)

This card features a new release from JustRite called Autumn Blessings Borders & Centers Oval . You can find this new JustRite release and many others at Stamper's Dream. Look for the new Christmas releases SOON! This apple stamp is formatted to be oval....so I just stamped the apples and cut them out to use them on the circle. The "Thanks" is from another stamp in the set...I just love the sentiments and fonts in this set.

The paper on this card is from Cosmo Cricket Everafter line. You can find the new Cosmo Cricket releases at Stamper's Dream store too!

Materials used: Stamps: Autumn (JustRite Stampers); designer paper-Everafter (Cosmo Cricket); white cardstock (Gina K Designs); button (Papertrey Ink); sewing machine; choc chip marker (SU!); Copic markers; memento tuxedo black ink; corner punch (Fiskars); ribbon (May Arts); Spellbinders circle and scalloped circle Nestabilities; Wizard (Spellbinders); Creative memories cutting template; hemp (Hobby Lobby); foam mounting tape.

...Another one bites the dust...

.......looks like I won that bet. (Really really wish I didn't though.) My youngest ran a fever this afternoon and then got sick this evening. It is gonna be a long night.

This bug has a long incubation period---between 3-6 days.

There is two of us left who have not gotten it yet---Cara and I. Yipes! We are living in fear! If you don't hear from me ....you know why!

If the Tiara fits......

Well......so far---no one else has gotten sick! (Crossing fingers that it stays that way!)
We had a great day today---had a picnic lunch in the park, fed some ducks and a goose and then headed to the pool! My husband has been off this week and it has been fun hanging out and just recovering from our hectic summer.

This afternoon my girls and I were getting crafty at the kitchen table. My oldest (Cara, 13) was making a Twilight collage and my youngest (Lauren, 4) and I were working on this: Ever since I created the other princess crown card (you can see it HERE), Lauren has been wanting to make one. So she helped me adhere all the bling! Once again---the crown is created using the Fleur de Lis Pendant die from Spellbinders. Very easy!
What fun this was to make.....and the awesome sentiment fits her (and this card) perfectly. "If the tiara fits..." is from Little Tees from Gina K Designs. Couldn't resist!

Materials used: Stamps- Little Tees (Gina K Designs); ink-Memento black; Fleur de Lis Pendant die (Spellbinders); Wizard (Spellbinders); Silver cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Designer paper--Sabrina (Making Memories, Norm's News (October Afternoon); assorted gemstones; label punch, circle punch (Stampin' Up!).

Hope you had a great day too!

HOME sweet home.....24 hours of FUN!

Well, our vacation is finally over (deep sigh!) The kiddos start back to school in less than two weeks so on the planes home I immediately clicked from vacation mode to planning/school mode. We arrived home last night around 6 p.m. and we were all exhausted.

Luckily, most of us went to bed early because my sweet husband woke up very early with a stomach bug which he is insisting is food poisoning. (My son was sick with a stomach bug 6 days ago but Kevin thinks it was the Taco Bell dinner he chowed down!) I had him at the hospital this afternoon to get iv fluids and he is doing well now.

Needless to say---nothing was accomplished today....but there is always tomorrow. (Unless another person falls ill from the mysterious food poisoning epidemic :( )Yeah....we are walking around on egg shells around here.....ewww!

Thanks so much for visiting while I was gone. I am looking forward to getting back to stamping and visiting blog.....but first...I have some cleaning to do!

Princess Crown

*Note: I am away on vacation. This is an auto-post!

Spellbinders has a contest going on right now--the Pendant Project Contest--Details HERE!

All you have to do is submit an original creation you made using one of their new Pendant dies.

Here is my entry: When I first saw the Fleur de Lis Pendant---I was LOVING it. When I got it into my home---I loved it even more. There are so many fun things you can create with these dies.

I had a pile of the die cuts sitting on my desk and one time when I looked---I thought that the edges really resembled a Princess crown. So I cut out two of the dies and layered them on top of each other (to get the layered look) and then added some crystals and some stickles!

Good luck to all those who enter!
